My name is Guyla Greenly and I’m an overworked, overcommitted, joyful single parent. I have two biological children, a heart adopted son, his wife, their baby on the way, and a whole lot of my kids’ friends whom I love as much as my own. As the CEO of a statewide trade organization and a graduate student, I rarely have time to get a full night’s sleep, let alone be a supermom.
Parenting on Purpose is an idea I’ve had since I went through a divorce 10 years ago. During the most painful time of my life, I did not want to let my kids get lost in the shuffle. I started thinking about utilizing the many tools available to better understand my kids, God’s plan for us, and how I could intentionally go about parenting, rather than merely babysitting.
I originally thought I’d develop Parenting on Purpose as a Bible study. Still a good idea, but while taking a class on children and the media, I decided to start out with this blog. Maybe together we can explore what it means to parent on purpose and send our kids out into the world with the tools they need to live victorious lives. Shoot me a line to let me know what’s on your mind and let’s enjoy the journey together.
